I see videos circulating from time to time of women spraying lidocaine on their feet before wearing heels. “I think amazing!! I’ll do that next time.” But why?!? Why?!?
I’ve fully transitioned to Rothy’s. Other than Tennis shoes, they are all I put on my feet (and they are machine washable!)
Absolutely done. They’re not even cool anymore, apparently!! But socks and sandals are…? Each of my pregnancies punished my feet. My husband saw them recently and said: “wow! You have adolescent bunions.” By which he meant bunions that aren’t totally mature but aren’t totally immature either. Basically anything that squeezes the front half of my foot is a NO.
UGH! My feet grew a full size bigger after kids and if I don't wear compression socks on days I go running my restless legs keep me up all night... I guess I could wear my compression socks with my fancy flat sandals. Ha!
I know at weddings now, every woman takes off their heels to dance. I think a change of footwear makes great sense if you feel the need for heels.
Also, Emily, you reminded me of a work dinner incident 20+ years ago My wife and i were at a table with the wife of one of our firm's investors. Their family was prominent in the cigar business and their extended family was involved with Philip Morris. Smoking came up and Debbie said she thought of the tobacco industry as her enemies because they were plotting to get our kids to smoke.
Heels suck and luckily (?) I don’t have much opportunity to need them, but as a short girl I feel like such a child and/or granny in flats. I go for comfy wedges or platform shoes…
Well said! I am always FLOORED by how many people can dance all night in 4" heels. I always carry a pair of flats with me and put them on after everyone gets drunk!! Can't wait to hear what everyone else does.

That's insane! WHY?! And I've been eyeing Rothy's for years!
…I even bought their purse 🙃
ooooh I need one of those too! My favorite purse of the last 15 years finally died
Also machine washable!!!! I can’t hype them up enough. I’m obsessed.

I was pretty proud of her.
I've been in a few weddings and the first thing I do as soon as the music comes on is take off my shoes! And good for your wife!!

Ha! At 5'11" I have a height advantage, but I hear you on wedges! They are so much better than spiked heels!
Oh comfortable shoes forevermore. It is such a delight to know ill never have that pain again. Or miss a dancing opportunity cos my feet ache.
Hear, hear!
