Twixmas
a.k.a. The best week of the year
But first… I want to extend a warm welcome to the new faces here, thanks to an essay I wrote about Aiden for HuffPost back in 2021. I poured my heart into that piece, and I’m so grateful to the editor, Noah Michelson, for believing in me and my story. I hope you come to consider this space a warm and inviting place to pause in this noisy world. Please drop a note in the comments to say hello.
Hello friends,
I was at a holiday party last week and got to talking with a friend about how much we both love that weird week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Seven days of low expectations, so anything you accomplish feels like completing a PhD.
For the most part, 2025 has left me weary. All week, I complained in my morning pages about how discouraged I am over unmet expectations and resentments over things outside of my control. After about a page and a half of longhand scribble and complaining, I stumbled upon an idea. In the hopes of shifting my mood, I thought…
What if I published a series of posts about my favorite week of the year, Twixmas?
Over the years, I’ve collected a few traditions to help me reflect on the previous year and look forward to the new one. I thought it would be interesting to share them here, along with a few resources. You could choose to participate, or maybe you can just read along like most of us watch Ina Garten or Martha Stewart. Does anyone really roast a rack of lamb for some friends popping in for a quick lunch?
This Twixmas, you can expect seven short posts on a variety of ways to tie a bow on 2025 and look forward to 2026.

Of course, I reserve the right to rearrange, change, and/or add or delete anything, because, well, it’s Twixmas. I hope you’ll follow along in whatever way feels good to you.
This is where I am today. Thank you for listening.
In an era where you have access to every word ever written, I’m so grateful you’ve chosen to read mine.
