Quick hello
Hello Friends,
I’m popping in mid-week to share a story I published on Monday on Coffee + Crumbs.
The story centers around a baby shower I went to last year, where guests were asked to give children’s books to help build a library for this new baby.
Aiden was such a cool little dude, and I want the whole world to know what a warrior he was, but I think it’s more than just sharing who he was. I think it’s about creating something beautiful out of such pain. I think it’s about making something new after losing so much.
In the story Emotional Landmines in the Pages of Board Books, I talk about Aiden’s bookshelf and how I organized it after his death. His books are still the things I turn to when I want to feel close to Aiden. Sometimes I catch the older kids in there curled up on the floor reading.
This is where I am today. Thank you for listening.
xoxo,
Emily

Emotional Landmines in the Pages of Board Books Coffee + Crumbs
Last year I went to a baby shower in Myanmar. Well, not actually in Myanmar. But the shower was for a friend who lives there, and guests came from all over the world to celebrate her over Zoom. The invitation said to give children’s books—together we would build a library for this new baby. Occasions like this have become emotional landmines since we lost our third child, Aiden, to brain cancer two years ago. He was 20 months old. (more)
