Hello Friends,
I had a nap attack today. I sat down on the floor, intending to do some stretching (My hips and low back have been bothering me), and before I knew it, I was out.
It wasn’t a deep sleep. It was that weird in-between dreamland. Like, I know what’s going on around me (the lights were on, and I could hear the kids playing), but I’m also conscious of being asleep.
It felt indulgent and a little subversive. Like there are better uses of my time.
But I also think sometimes I need to let go of whatever I think I need to get done and just let my body take over. The dishes will still be there when I wake up.
This is where I am today. Thank you for listening.
xoxo,
Emily

Read This Week
K is for Killer by Sue Grafton
There are so many things I like about this series. Kinsey is smart, scrappy, and doesn't take misogyny lying down. I like that she's a runner and the books are set in the town where I live. More than anything, I've appreciated a break from all things technological, no social media, computers, all answering machines and faxes, and rotary phones. BUT (more)
The Art of Memoir by Mary Karr
"Write one true sentence." More than anything else, this book makes me want to study memoir in a meaningful way.
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Almost Famous in book form. Daisy Jones and The Six are a 1970s rock band dealing with creative differences, addiction, unrequited love, all while making a massive hit album. (more)
