No promises, but I’m gonna try and add in a weekly round-up on Fridays and move my regular publishing day to Tuesdays. Let’s see how this goes…
Why do we laugh? (Sapiens) Farts, people falling down or getting kicked in the balls, other people laughing, that time George W Bush forgot he was at the integration… are you smiling yet?
Girl Scout Cookies ranked. Samoas all the way, baby! And I’m not above hiding a whole box from the rest of my family. (Food & Wine)
Gifted: A Multiple choice test (Coffee and Crumbs) A gorgeous personal story on parenting and the important questions.
Kylie Kelce has a new podcast, and she is a delight! This week, she offers support to those who married into fandom. Also, she’s pregnant with baby number four and gives no f*cks about the pressures of “perfect parenting,” I find it very refreshing.
Kids these days! ... Jennifer Weiner has some advice after 25 years of publishing. In Her Shoes was the book that got this burnt-out English Major reading again post-college.
Liz Gilbert has a new book about her partner Rayya, who died of cancer several years ago, and I’m going to lose my mind… Quick story… I finished City of Girls (a novel by Gilbert) while in the PICU with Aiden after his first brain surgery. The book was the only light in a very dark time. The last paragraph in the acknowledgments was about Rayya, who had already passed away at the time of publication, "You are not by my side, You are my heart. I will always love you."
The ladies at Pantsuit Politcs always keep it nuanced.
A conversation on Goodness (The Stacks Podcast w/ Traci Thomas)
A poem (Talking to Myself)
“The Saucer Magnolia is bringing bursts of color and hope, a reminder of resilience and generation.” (Trees of LA)
The best round-up of ways to help the people of Los Angeles. (Unstacked by Traci Thomas) Traci is actually in LA doing this work now. The devastation is nothing you can comprehend. Please help if you can.
Umm I’m preferential to Tagalongs 😉
Thanks for the shout out 🫂🤍
